It was a distinct honor to be selected and invited as a tech founder to attend the “The Road to $5 Billion” Validation Workshop, a landmark event charting the course for the Sri Lankan IT sector's explosive growth.

A Crucial National IT Industry Dialogue
This strategic workshop represents a critical juncture for Sri Lanka’s software and technology sector. It serves as a foundational national dialogue focused on comprehensively shaping and assessing the IT industry's trajectory towards achieving an ambitious $5 Billion IT export revenue target by 2030. I was proud to represent not just my own founder journey, but the broader collective of IT firms, startups, and the technology ecosystem emerging from the Northern Province.
Engaging with the Ministry of Digital Economy, GovTech Sri Lanka, the World Bank Group / IFC, KPMG, and the nation's premier technology leaders reinforced a vital truth: Sri Lanka possesses no shortage of brilliant tech talent. What we urgently require is precise alignment, rapid execution, robust policy support, greater investment access, and a unified national push.
Key IT Sector Takeaways
- Tech Capacity Building: Emphasizing the urgent need to upskill our software engineering workforce to meet international tech demands and remote work standards.
- Digital Policy Support: Advocating for streamlined government IT regulations that empower software startups and attract foreign tech investment into Sri Lanka.
- Global IT Positioning: Strategic initiatives to rebrand Sri Lanka as a premier offshore destination for high-end IT services, software development, and engineering excellence.
Conversations with visionary leaders driving Sri Lanka's digital economy and innovation direction were profoundly insightful. I view this not merely as an opportunity, but as a responsibility to bring greater visibility, collaboration, and opportunities to the Northern ICT and startup ecosystem. The time is now to elevate our regional technology potential onto the global stage.
Every region must actively participate in Sri Lanka’s $5 Billion digital economy journey, and I am confident that the North is fully prepared to deliver.
